Hi! My name is Lauren Franceschini and I am a graduating senior at Elon University in North Carolina working towards a degree in English with a double concentration in Professional Writing and Rhetoric and Creative Writing. These concentrations, though at times deeply varied, have allowed me to explore the beautiful ways in which writing styles overlap and bleed into each other. It is for that reason that I decided to break up my portfolio into three sections that showcase how the different aspects of my writing have melded together: The Editor, The Designer, and The Creative.

Each section focuses on how the culmination of my writing education here at Elon has left me with a creative and professional skill set that is ready and equipped to handle a myriad of rhetorical situations. The Editor section shows how my knowledge of rhetoric has aided me in the critical revision of both academic and professional work. Similarly, the content in The Designer section displays the array of visual design projects I have successfully completed based on my visual rhetoric skills. The Creative section shows how my professional and creative writing have blended together in a fusion of rhetoric and creativity.

 

There is a healthy mix of work from both my academic life both at Elon and during my time abroad as well as work completed during a recent internship. It is my hope that these documents showcase my best writing and are exemplary in displaying the work and dedication I have put into studying rhetorical principles and theory.

In considering the display of my work, I decided to use Wix as a platform because the ease of its design and usability. Because there is so much control over the website design, I felt I could create a portfolio that fully reflects both who I am as a writer as well as a person. Likewise, because Wix is so user-centered, I felt that this platform would showcase my writing in a clean, coherent, and organized way that is seamless for my audience to navigate. The clean organization of Wix as a platform is indicative of my writing. It is my hope that my audience finds the showcase of my pieces as easy to navigate and concise as the platform in which they are displayed.
